Directions:

Take PA 601 south from Benson/Hollsopple, turn left onto Plank Road, then right immediately onto Quemahoning Dam Road. Continue along lake to the Family Recreation Area on the left. Or take the US 30 exit off US 219, go left for .25 miles, right onto Main Street and right immediately onto Alwine. After another right onto Green Bridge Road, make a left onto Quemahoning Dam Road. Follow to the Family Recreation Area on the right.

The Quemahoning Family Recreation Area is open to the public for a wide variety of outdoor-recreational activities. There's a swimming beach, horseshoe pits, a playground and a one-mile walking trail. Athletic facilities include basketball and volleyball courts, softball and soccer fields. Individual picnic tables are available for day-use and pavilions may be reserved for larger groups. Day-use or annual passes are available, and annual pass-holders receive discounts on pavilion rentals and camping fees.

Fishing is permitted, and there is a handicap-accessible fishing pier. Boat launch facilities accommodate both trailered and car-top boats. Note that all boats on Quemahoning Lake must display a current Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission sticker. Fishing boats are limited to 17 feet in length and cannot have gasoline-powered motors.

Hunting is permitted on the public-owned lands around the lake but is limited to waterfowl only in the vicinity of the Family Recreation Area and adjacent Summer's Best Two Weeks camp. A special safety zone permit is needed. Camping facilities include tent, RV and group camping sites. Restrooms and shower facilities are available.
