TThe Windber Area Museum is situated in the house of
David Shaffer, upon whose farm the community of Windber
was developed. The museum has early-20th century
furnishings and fixtures. Special rooms feature artifacts
of coal-miners and Windber Hospital. Other artifacts
include women's and children's clothing and military
uniforms. The museum is open from Memorial Day through
Labor Day from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, and
the rest of the year by appointment.
