Directions:

Hooversville is located along PA Route 403, 4.4 miles south of Benson.

Hooversville Borough is a classic coal-mining community within The Stonycreek Corridor. The community dates back to the 1830s and was a stop on the B&O Railroad branch line between Somerset and Johnstown that was developed in 1881. Somerset Mining Company activity led to the borough’s incorporation in 1896. The Wilbur Coal Mining Company probably had the greatest impact on this community, developing mines all around Hooversville that also led to the establishment of neighboring Blough to the north and Wilbur to the south. Mining activity ceased by the 1950s.
